DOQQ

http://www.geology.enr.state.nc.us/doqq.html

Digital orthophoto quarter quads (DOQQ), are computer generated images of an aerial picture that has been removed of any large displacements. This type of imagery is unique because it is a combination of characteristics of a photograph and geometrics of a map. Unlike an uncorrected aerial photo, an orthophoto can be used to measure true distances, because it is an accurate representation of the Earth's surface.
